Upper Florida Keys Fishing

The Upper Keys is the area where you'll find
the most charter fishing boats, marinas and
tackle shops. Islamorada is called 'The
Fishing Capital of the World' and is where
many celebrities and politicians come to
vacation and partake in the world's best
sportsfishing. President George Bush, Sr.,
President Herbert Hoover, and British Prime
Minister Winston Churchill are just a few of the
famous that have visited Islamorada.

There are a series of three "humps" located on
the edge of the continental shelf off of the
Florida Keys. These humps are loosely called
seamounts, because they are like mountains
rising from the ocean floor. Worldwide, there
are thousands of these structures. Some are
remnants of underwater volcanoes; others may
have once been emergent islands. Wherever
you find them, seamounts are unique marine
habitats. The Islamorada Hump is a very
popular fishing area as well as the Florida Bay
for back country and flats fishing on those days
that the seas are too rough or you just prefer a
more laid back experience.
